The River is running at 10″ above Summer Level, water clarity is poor.

The River came up by 2′ on Wednesday, but started to drop nicely, followed by another spate taking it to inexcess of 3′.  The River wouldn’t really have fished until yesterday and conditions today are perfect (just a pity there is no Sunday fishing for Sea Trout!).  We’ve had good reports of fish running the ladder and by now the fish should be distributed throughout the River.  There is a really good chance of Sea Trout over the next couple of days, but fingers crossed we don’t get too much rain!

The River is running at above Summer Level, water clarity is excellent.

The River came up by 3″ in Saturday, but dropped quickly.  There is a really good chance of Sea Trout over the next couple of days with rain due and scales left on the Salmon Ladder at Cramond.  If you haven’t been following the fishing on the forum, June / July and August are normally very hard, but this doesn’t appear to be the case this year.  There are some excellent rises at night, with brownies freely rising in almost every pool.

The River is running at summer level, water clarity is good and the water temp is holding at 64 Fahrenheit.

Fishing has been very difficult with low water and high temperatures, the best time to fish the River at the moment is early mornings and late evenings, with good hatches of Olives coming off the water.  There are some cracking Sea Trout in the system, but they’ll be holding in the deeper shaded pools, with your only real chance during the black of night.  The Brown Trout are constantly rising, but stay away from the still water and stick to the runs and glides, Greenwells Spiders, Pheasent Tails nymphs and Silver Invictas are all catching fish at the moment.

We could really do with some rain to freshen up the system and encourage some more silver tourists into the River.

There has been a serious pollution incident upstream at Kirkton, with numerous fish found dead or dying.  SEPA are currently running a “Clean Up” operation, I’m not sure of the status of the Clubs water, but this isn’t good news.  I’d recommend no fishing until we have the all clear from SEPA.

The River is running at 10″ above summer, water clarity is poor and the water temp is holding at 58 Fahrenheit.

Fishing has been very difficult with low water and high temperatures, however a cracking 6-7lb Sea Trout was caught last week (Wednesday) and safely returned, so it shows it’s still worth fishing the holes.  We had a good spare last night with a rise of 1.2m (30″ on the guage), the River dropped as quickly as it came up, but I would hope it holds and clears, as this will bring Sea Trout into the system.  I saw Sea Trout last night in the Grotto, but I’d hazard a guess they knew the spate was coming!

An angler fishing on Beat One early this morning had a finnock (small sea-trout) of about 12ozs. so there are still a few fish creeping into the system.

Following the high water of recent weeks the river has dropped of nicely, currently running about 4″ above Summer Lever and the clarity is good.  Water Temperature jumped following the warm spell from 44 to 50 Fahrenheit.

Good to see a return to catching, with Brown Trout and Sea Trout being reported this week, I’d suggest this has something to do with the warmer conditions.  With the coming of a new moon we’re beginning to see the return of the “high tides”, with 5m plus tides.

We have a work party this Sunday, meeting at 08:00 at the Cammo Entrance to Grotto Bridge.  The plan is to remove the Willow that has formed an island on Beat 2, which is causing erosion of both banks.  This is probably going to be an all day job, so even if you can only make a couple of hours then please pop along.  Chef Marko will as usual be turning the raw food we bring into a BBQ delight!

The River is running about 3′ (foot) above Summer Level(SL) and clarity is poor.  The tides are good at the moment with the full moon today, so today brings a 5.29m tide.

The River has been unfishable all week, running high and coloured.

The River is running about 4″ above Summer Level and water clarity is good, water temperature is now 45 fahrenheit.

A very quiet week so far with no reports of fish landed.  Today has brought some rain and by the look of the River tonight, I’d expect another couple of inches on the board and a hint of colour.  This may encourage some silver tourists into the system.  Brown Trout fishing is still slow and I can only put this down to the cold weather, it’s likely you’d need to be fishing on the bottom to make contact, that said some Olives are beginning to appear around midday and this should start to encourage some movement.

The River is running about 5″ above Summer Level and water clarity is good, water temperature is now 46 fahrenheit.

This week marks the start of the Brown Trout Season, so hopefully we’ll have a few rods on the River today and some new photo’s of this seasons Brownies.  At the current time of writing we’re beginning to see Sea Trout appearing in the catches, with fish hooked and lost and hooked and landed!  On Wednesday we had a cracking 4lb Sea Trout and a 2.5lb Sea Trout hooked and safely returned to the River.  The Spring Sea Trout in the Almond are normally good quality fish and I’m sure you’ll see that from the gallery pictures.
