29th April 2011 – River Tummel (West Haugh & Dunfallandy)
For more information see http://www.fonab.co.uk/index2.htm
The guys had a cracking day out, bright conditions made the fishing a tad difficult, however that said Adam Cross managed to hook and lose two salmon, with Mark McGillivray landing a cracking springer about 8-9lb’s on the fly. The Tummel is full of fish at the moment and the guys saw plenty fresh run salmon during their day out. The Tummel is a must for the Spring next season.

4th June 2011 – River Almond Competition (Hinshelwood Trophy – 2011 Champion Euan Martin)
Following on from 2009 & 2010 we are holding a “catch and release” competition on the River Almond, fishing Beats 2 & 3. The Outing was well attended and the guys had a great day, rounded off with a cracking BBQ, our thanks go to the Cross family for pulling together a great spread. Our new Champion Euan Martin did very well landing 9 Brown Trout for the day, fishing a 3 weight rod, 4lb drennan double strength, New Zealand style set up. The nymphs were home tied and I’m sure he’ll pop a couple of pictures on the forum, but in short, peacock hearl with a olive thorax on the dropper and a gold head on the point (black dubbed body, copper wire rib and a few strands of deer hair for the tail), both size 14, with all fish falling for the point fly. Euan started at Criagies Burn and made his way down to Tail of the Island, only fishing the faster water, all the fish were in great condition as you’ll see from below.

18th June 2011 – River Isla (Islabank)
8 Rods available, £25.00 per angler
For more information see http://www.islabank.co.uk
Yet another great event arranged by Adam Cross, the rain was on and off all day, but this didn’t dampen the spirits with plenty fish showing and even another hooked and safely returned by David McBride and another “long distance released”!

24th July 2011 – Junior Outing (Bill Thompson Trophy – 2011 Champion Aidan Cross)
Following on from our 2010 Junior Fun Day, we arranged our junior day out at Selmmuir Trout Fishery. This was funded by the club, so all junior members can fish for free. The was a fantastic event which all the Junior members enjoyed, while benefiting from tuition from Gordon Graham, followed by a BBQ.
First prize went to Aidan Cross, so for the third year running the Cross Family have retained the Trophy.

20th August 2011 – North Third Fishery (Tam Kerr Trophy – 2011 Champion Euan Martin)
Once again another cracking outing, with 16 members taking part. First Prize went to Euan Martin, with 4 fish for 9lb 9oz’s, the Competition was fished with an impossed limit of 4 fish. The feedback from the participants was brilliant, so once again our thanks go to Adam Cross for making it such an excellent day out and our thanks to North Third as well.
